Mary-Ann, like my own mom certainly made mistakes and may not have been the best mom but I think she tried her best. However, looking past how Tyler and Alyson had always believed what happened, I had my own doubts too. When we confronted Tom about his affair, I discounted his version of events. We like to think that how we remember things makes them true but that's not always the case. A lot like Tyler and Alyson also had to deal with. When I finally faced my own childhood I sometimes doubted myself, wondering if I could trust my memories. I'm going to spoiler the rest of the review for story spoilers and give a trigger warning.

There was a lot to unpack with this story and there were a lot of lessons to be learned. I think the parallels to my own lived experiences made it especially difficult. I had to take a few breaks because it was just too much for me and I needed to cry a bit.
